Margaret Eppes Curtis is a native of Richmond and spent every weekend and summer as a child at Fishing Bay Yacht Club in Deltaville. She attended St. Catherine's School for 13 years.

Margaret began working at 15 at Richmond newspapers for 3 summers. Following high school, she worked for an insurance company for 10 years until an opportunity in the savings and loan industry presented itself where she became infatuated with the mortgage business. In 1994 she moved to the Northern Neck where she worked to promote the Bank of Lancaster's call program. She assisted the bank in adding the secondary market to their lending programs and eventually selling to FNMA. She retired as Vice President with 36 years in the mortgage industry.

      What is your favorite thing about our community?
      45 years ago I would have said I was drawn to the Northern Neck becasue of the Chesapeake Bay and it’s beautiful creeks, but I also love it becasue of it’s people. The locals who have been watermen and farmers have such wonderful stories to tell; yet, so many people have moved from other place and come to appreciate what we have to offer and they have their own stories and experiences.
      What initially drew you to real estate?
      It seemed to me to be a natural transition after being in the mortgage business and relating with realtors for so many years.
      How does your background bring a unique perspective to your work?
      The 36 years that I spent in the mortgage business allows me an opportunity to have experienced many more real estate closings than the average realtor and to be creative when and if necessary with financing contingencies, both on the buyer and seller’s side.
      How do you give back to the community?
      • Organized and participated in Relay for Life teams for the American Cancer Society
      • Participated for many years in March of Dimes walks
      • Participated for many years in Multiple Sclerosis walks
      • Was a member of the Just Gardens Committee for 7 years which contributes the The Haven. In addition to serving on the committee, I opened my personal garden for 2 years.
